Field of meteorites

The largest field of meteorite of the world

In the desert of Egypt is gigantic a crater of almost 1 km diameter. Partially buried under the desert, it was recently discovered in December 2004. Tens of others of impacts had already been located on a surface of more than 5000 km ². These craters would have been formed, approximately 50 million years ago, by a rain of meteorites whose diameters were to be about 50 Mr.

At the time of the impact, the shock is if violent that the meteorite is often vaporized and that it produces a vast crater.
