Fiebre amarilla

Albert Dubout (Marseilles, May 15th 1905 - Saint-Ells, close to Montpellier 1976) is a Dessin ator humorist and painter French.

Biography

Albert Dubout was born the May 15th 1905 with Marseilles. After studies with the College of Nimes where it has as a comrade Jean Paulhan, then with the École of the Art schools of Montpellier, where it meets his first wife, Renee Altier. It goes up to Paris at 17 years. Its first drawings left in the Echo the students Montpellier in 1923.

In 1929, Philippe Soupault, directing arts person with the editions Kra, makes him illustrate its first book: Congestion of the Paris streetses of Boileau. It carries out its Military service with Saint-Cloud with 6th group GAA.

It illustrates nearly eighty works including ten eight collections of drawings. Among which books of Boileau, Beaumarchais, Mérimée, Rabelais, Villon, Cervantes, Balzac (Hundred Tales drolatic), Root, Voltaire, Rostand, Poe, Courteline and simultaneously of the official texts (Code of the taxes), many books (of which the “San Antonio”). Its drawings for the " Clochemerle " of Gabriel Chevallier are particularly tasty.

He collaborates in various newspapers and re-examined of which the Laughter, Marianne, Bursts of laughter, the free bone, Paris-Evening, Ici Paris…

He carries out also posters of cinema and theater as well as decorations. He works in the Publicité, made oil-base paint (he carried out 70 tables), and draws many covers of books and small pockets of discs.

In 1951, its name appears in the Petit Larousse . It carries out a film the Street without law which is a failure.

In 1953, the president Vincent Auriol decorates it with the Légion of honor.

In 1965, it illustrates the adventures of San-Antonio at the request of Frederic Dard.

In 1967, it settles with his second wife, Suzanne Ballivet, also painter, with the Mézy-on-Seine. Until its death in 1976, it will share its time between this locality and Palavas-the-Floods. In its caricatures, he often made fun besides of the “small train of Palavas” and of the tourists going in small the Seaside resort. Since 1992, a Musée is dedicated to him in the Redoute de Ballestras with Palavas-the-Floods (Herault)
