Fibrillary Chorée of Morvan

The fibrillary Chorée of Morvan or syndrome of Morvan is a rare neuro-muscular disease, of auto-immune pathogenesis , characterized by the presence of many painful Fasciculation S.

The disease was described in 1890 by Morvan. The term neuromyotonie is also sometimes used to describe it, but this term does not make consensus.

Symptomatology

Various levels of attack are possible
  • Fasciculations benign painful,
  • pseudomyotonic Sémiologie with doublets and bytes on the electromyogram,
  • rigid Formes
  • Formes with central demonstrations, associating with the neuromusculaire activity continues, Agitation, Délire, mental Confusion, Hallucination S, Insomnie, Agrypnie, Hyperhidrose, disorders of the cardiac rhythm.

Physiopathology

The starting point of the spontaneous activity sits on the intramuscular distal ramifications of the Motor nerve. The auto-immune dimension of the disease was highlighted. There would be a blocking of the channels potassium dependant voltage by the serum antibodies, generating the hyperactivity continues.
