History
Feurs draws his origin from the Roman denomination of Forum Segusiavorum , place of exchanges of the ancient people, the Ségusiaves. One finds in the city, beside the Post office, of the vestiges of old the Roman city.It directly gave its name to the province of the Forez.
The Ville was mentioned by the ancient geographer Ptolémée.
It was fugitively chief town of the department of the the Loire of 1793 with 1795
It had one of the first railroads: The 3rd line of France Andrézieux - Roanne opens its 1st section the 1832 between Saint-Bonnet-the-Oules and Balbigny. It is in Feurs which is on this section that the workshops of the company are installed which will build several engines under the orders of engineer Régnié.
Feurs, today, is definitively turned towards Saint-Etienne, a city-model for it. The archaeological sites of interests are numerous but all are discovered during various work on the commune.
