Festivals of the elvers

The " festival of the Elver S " is a festival which takes place towards the end of March each year with Indre since 1965.

As its name indicates it, One can taste elvers " there; nature" or " with Low-indraise" sauce; (whose receipt is held secret). The price varies according to the years.

History

Formerly

Low-Indre was formerly the first port civelier of France. The Civelle (eel alevin) was fished for the consumption of the men but also sometimes of the animals when it was very abundant.

today

One does not fish any more a Low-Indre elvers with . Fishing in the Loire is practiced estuary with the Pellerin and upstream of Nantes until the Thouaré-on-Loire.

Animation

At the time of this festival, a cycle race called " it tower of the launch " is organized. Its name comes owing to the fact that the borough from Low-Indre which has a form of Chaloupe.

A Fun fair is organized.
