Festival of the short film in the open air of Grenoble
The Festival of the Short film in the open air of Grenoble is one of the major annual appointments of the cinema in France. At the beginning of July, it accommodates approximately 10.000 spectators on the place Saint Andre and in the room Juliet Berto.
History
Small flashback…
In 1946, the International festival of the Short film of Turns is born. Expelled of the city in 1972 by the municipality which considers it too pornographic, it settles then with Grenoble and takes the name of Festival of the Short film and the Documentary film. For lack of subsidies, the event moves in Lille in 1976.The following year, the executive team decides to start again a festival with Grenoble, convinced that such a demonstration has its place in the capital of the the Alps.
1977: first steps of the Festival
In 1977, the Festival of the Short film in the open air of Grenoble is thus born from the will of a team welded to diffuse free and in outside this filmic format little known of the general public which is the Short film. The first edition takes place during the first week of July 1978.Chaque year since this date, of many realizers and professionals of the cinema find themselves with Grenoble at the time of this go combining popularity and artistic requirement.
During 5 days, the Festival proposes:
- a selection of films in competition and except competition
- of the homages
- of the panoramas and retrospective
- of the meetings with the realizers and the professionals
- a training course of film analysis
- a contest of scenario
- one sleepless night
All the meetings and animations are free (except for the training course of film analysis).
Decreed Prices
The ceremony of handing-over of the Prices takes place the last day of the Festival, at midnight, Place Holy Andre. After the advertisement of the prize list, the preceded films are projected Salle Juliet Berto.

Topicality
From July 3rd to 7th 2007, the Festival of the Short film in the open air of Grenoble will celebrate its 30ème anniversaire.
