Festival of the end of the world

The Festival of the End of the World is a festival of métissées musics/musics of the being held world the second weekend of August in Presqu'île of Crozon in the Finistere.

Born in 2000 thanks to the implication from local associative fabric, the festival accommodated 57.000 people on the Meadow of Landaoudec August 11th, 12th and 13rd 2006, and is today one of the major appointments of the musics of the world in France.

The musical programming seeks to reconcile recognized artists and discovered, and it is in all more than 30 groups, that they result from Senegal (Ismaël Lô, Sheik Lô), from Mongolia (Egschiglen), or Marseilles (Dupain), which follow one another during three days out of the three scenes of the festival. Y inter alia played: Manu Chao, Robert Plant, Ibrahim Ferrer, Youssou Dour, Johnny Clegg, Steel Pulsates, Goran Bregovic, Paco Ibañez, Manu Dibango, Souad Massi, Salif Keita, Joan Baez…

In addition to its programming, the Festival of the End of the World is famous for the environment cordial and family which reigns there, the beauty of the site (in full heart of the Regional natural park of Armorique, with 300 meters of the ocean), the quality of reception (free camp-site and carpark, village of the kitchens of the world, spaces child, device of public transport, etc).

Operation

Voluntary help/ Created as of the beginning thanks to a strong implication of associations almost îliennes, the festival rests today on nearly 73 associations partners and to their 1400 voluntary, framed by the 100 members of the organizing team.

Financing/ the Festival of the End of the World, with a budget of a little more than one million euros, is financed with more than 95%. In 2006, it maintains once again financial balance. the site/ Jewel of the Littoral Breton, the 50 Hectare S of the site is located into full Bocage and at a few hundreds with meters of the ocean.

Transport/ the powerful device " You at the end of Monde" transport; makes it possible each year more than 8000 people to go to the festival by train, boat, or because, for a tiny sum.

Others

Greenpeace/ Because of the proximity of the Long Island, principal base of the military nuclear force in France, Greenpeace set up happenings on the editions 2005 and 2006 of the festival, the organization not wishing to accommodate their stand on the site of the festival. Indeed, the festival wishes to remain has Politique, and to continue to concentrate on its objectives, by proposing pushed, rich artistic choices and of quality.

The Festival, envisaged over two days, sees appearing the third scenic space: the Scene Discovered. The cruising speed of the festival is reached, with 20.000 festival per day is 40.000 over the weekend. For the years to come, the gauge will remain voluntarily limited by the organizers to this threshold, in order to guarantee expensive conditions of reception to the festival, and to preserve the convivial and human environment which is clean for him.
