Festival of the 3 Continents

The festival of the three continents created in 1979 with Nantes by Philippe and Alain Jalladeau, is a Festival of Cinéma devoted to cinematographies of Asia, Africa and central South America and .

Exclusively devoted to these neglected cinematographies, it quickly was essential like the main thing go for the professionals as for the amateurs. The majority of diffused films (more than thousand), had never been diffused apart from their country of origin, even if some were never diffused elsewhere, the festival allowed many revelations. One can quote the Mali in Souleymane Cissé, Chinese of Hong-Kong Wong Kar-wai or the Iran IEN Abbas Kiarostami.

For the selection competition , the festival decrees five prices: the Montgolfier of gold , the Montgolfier of money , prices of female role and male and the price of the Town of Nantes for the setting in scene. But the competition is not the main activity of the festival which presents also a selection out-competition as well as sections panorama (devoted to a country, a studio, an area,…), retrospective (devoted to a personality) plural glances (devoted to a topic).
