Festival of failures of Bienne
The festival of failures of Bienne is a tournament of failures which is held each summer since 1968 in the Swiss city of Bienne.
The tournament of Bienne is not only the greatest demonstration échiquéenne in Suisse, but also the 3rd oldest festival of failures of Europe after the tournament of Hastings and the Chess tournament Corus of Wijk aan Zee.
The festival, which is held with the Palate of the Congresses to the downtown area, was created by Hans Suri who directed it until 1997. Today, its principal organizer is Peter Burri.
Interzonal tournament
A interzonal Tournoi, which acts as selection for the championship of the world of failures, was held there with three recoveries: in 1976,1985 and 1993.After the success of interzonal of 1976, since 1977 is held a tournament of international large-Masters there in which the tenors of the world signal took part. The record of victories is held jointly by Anatoly Karpov and Alexander Morozevitch (3 gained editions each one). Are held also a tournament of Masters there, open opened with all the players as well as tournaments of fast play and blitz. In 2007 simultaneous against Israeli GMI was organized, Maxim Rodsthein.
