Festival of arts of the Marquesas Islands
The Festival of arts of the Marquesas Islands is a cultural event organized periodically in the Archipel of the Marchionesses, in French Polynésie.
Initiated in 1986 by the religious organization Motu Haka O you the purpose of Fenua Enata , it is to maintain long-lived and to celebrate the culture Marquisienne and Polynésienne, through all kinds of spectacles and contest: dances, songs, sports, traditional kitchen, tattooings, typed, sculptures,…
It is held henceforth every four years, alternatively on the three most populated islands archipelago: Ua Pou, Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. With the departure only centered on the culture marquisienne, the festival gradually opened with the other Polynesian archipelagoes, with the arrival of groups of Hawaii, of the Samoa S, New Zealand, Tahiti, the Easter Island and besides.
But the three other inhabited islands, Tahuata, Fatuiva and Ua Huka, although smaller, are not in remainder: a mini festival, organized every four years, in alternation with the principal festival, was born in 2006 in Tahuata. Not having of the resources and the capacities of reception of the principal islands, it receives only groups come from the other islands marquisiennes, and not from more remote archipelagoes.
