Festival of Aurillac

Created in 1986 by Michel Crespin, this festival acquired in a few years a notoriety largely exceeding the borders of Aurillac.

The theater of street invades each Anne at the end of August the streets of this peaceful prefecture of 30.000 inhabitants to present the best to it as worst its creations (according to the words of its artistic director the festival would be connected at a true “court of the miracles”). Accommodating a score of official companies and more than 400 companies of passage (“off” of the festival), Aurillac became an appointment impossible to circumvent for all the amateurs and professionals of arts of the street in France. Today, the festival is directed by Jean-Marie Songy. Upstream of the festival, within the framework of the Preconditions, the companies of the official programming present their spectacle in certain communes of the department.

Great name of the spectacle of street present their new creations regularly to it: Frosted Annibal and its Elephants, Kumulus, Alama' S, Générik Vapor, Fright Express train,…

With programming increasingly richer, the Festival of Aurillac wants to be to be the festival reference of Arts of the street in France but also abroad. Its popularity is such as it attracts companies of all the horizons.

The public is, with the image of the festival, very eclectic. The jugglers, the actors and other artists occur under the glance of festival coming from all France, and even from abroad.

Aurillac with known to benefit from its ideal geographical position to attract. But, it is indisputably its organization regulated perfectly which knew to allure. Indeed, the town of Aurillac places each year at the disposal of all of the sanitary facilities, of the arranged campsites, the points of information and prevention,… The voluntary ones of the Red Cross also come to guarantee the good progress of the festival.
