Anima is the International festival of the Cartoon film of Brussels.
The Anima festival takes place each year in February or in March since 1982. He knew several denominations since his creation (Meetings of the Cinéma of animation, Semaine of the Cartoon, Festival of the cartoon and cartoon film). He names " Anima" since 2003.
The Festival is organized by Folioscope, a non-profit-making association of Belgian right created in 1988. The goal of this association is the promotion and the diffusion of the cinema of animation of quality. He is recognized by the French Communauté of Belgium and by the Vlaamse Gemeenschap.
Animated comprises an international competition and a compétion nationale ; he takes part in the selection of the Cartoon of Gold, price European of the short film of animation decreed by the principal festivals of animation. The festival proposes moreover each year of rétropectives and the homages, and invites on average about fifty realizers and other professionals. Animated proposes also workshops and conferences which are addressed to the young professionals (Futuranima).
More than 30.000 people attend with the festival which proceeds in Brussels (with the Flagey), but also Charleroi, with Liege, Ghent and in other towns of Belgium.
The direction of the Festival is ensured by Doris Cleven and Philippe Less.
