Ferté-Imbault

Ferté-Imbault is a common French, located in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the area Center.

Geography

History

A Roman occupation was found with the site of the current castle.

A first fortress was built towards 980 by the lord of Vierzon. Collegial is associated there with XIIIe century.

At the time of the War one hundred year old, the castle is taken. It is restored with the Renaissance. It is destroyed by a fire at the time of the wars of religion in 1562. It is rebuilt at the beginning of the XVIIe century by Jacques d' Étampes, future Marshal of France.

To the French revolution, the commune is attached to that of Saddle-Saint-Denis and finds his autonomy in 1860.
