Ferrocarrils of Generalitat de Catalunya

The Ferrocarrils of Generalitat de Catalunya ( FGC , railroads of the General information of Catalonia), are a Spanish Railway company whose head office is located at Barcelona (Catalogne). It is a public company depending on the autonomous Community of Catalonia created in 1979. FGC exploits a network of 200 km lines of and Railroad mainly with metric gauge track Funiculaire. Its activity also extends to lines from Autobus in correspondence with the railway lines.

The network

  • traditional Railroad: 182 km, including 40 km with standard spacing and 142 km with metric spacing (1000 mm). This network is entirely electrified in D.C. current 1,5 Kv.
  • Cog railway of Montserrat (5 km) and Ribes de Freser with Núria (12 km).
  • Funicular: Vallvidrera, Gelida, Sant Joan (Montserrat) and Santa Cova (Montserrat).

The annual traffic rises to approximately 32 million travellers. The manpower is approximately the 1300 paid ones.
