Fernandes/burny (guitar)
History
Fernandes was born with the establishment from musical Saito instrument corporation in the district Bunkyo Ku from Tokyo in 1969. Concentrating initially on the sale and the distribution of Guitar S of Flamenco, the company became one of the largest distributers of guitars of all the country.
In 1972, the company changes name, becomes Fernandes corporation and starts to market guitars under its own label. The following year, they move for Toshima Ku. The company starts to produce clones of Fender, while the counterparts of Gibson are manufactured under the Burny label. The characteristic of Fernandes, it is that they will directly start to produce top-of-the-range models without manufacturing economic guitars for the small budgets. This will contribute largely to their reputation.
In 1974, amplifiers are also added to the catalog and in 1976, the mark installs finally its districts with Shinjuku, where it is still today.
The following year, a branch is also created in Osaka.Fernandes cannot remain except race in the competition for the best counterparts and in 1981, their answer is the range of the “revival series”. The majority of the instruments were manufactured with the factory Fujigen Gakki, but also briefly at Tokai between the end 70 and beginning 80.
In 1982, Fernandes produces its own system of tremor under license Floyd Pink which will contribute much to the development of Heavy Metal and in 1984, a branch is created in the United States “FGI Inc. ” which will be followed into 1994 of “Fernandes guitars the USA”.
Then 1985 see the creation of a school of guitar.
In 1987, fernandes takes again the distribution of mark HIWATT, famous for its lamp amplifiers.
Today, the marks is in the hands of largest: Robert Fripp, Billy Joe de Greenday, Steve Jones of Sex Pistols also plays on Burny, Hide, Robert Trujillo, etc…

The first the Paul Burny are marked " Paul" on the head. They appear in 1973, with the firebird in the first catalog. They are numbered FLG- followed of a number which indicates at the same time the price in yens and qualitée of the model. The range goes from the FLG-60 with the FLG-240.
The first models have micro standard GOTOH PAF for the models " économiques" while the prestigious models have of Seymour Duncan 59. Much as of these models has a freight binding.
Into 1982/83, name changes and the Paul become the RLG-…: RLG 150, RLG 120, RLG 90, RLG 50, RLG 60, the microphones are of L8001 or L8002 for the top of the basket and L8000 for the less expensive models.

Production and serial number
The great fright of the manufacturers of Japanese counterparts in the Eighties is the Intenté lawsuit by Gibson, the mark threatened already Ibanez and multiplies the pressures, contrary to the fender group which endorsed the proverb “yew you edge' T happy them, join them” (if you cannot beat them, join them).
So that l'" adversaire" have less information possible at its disposal in the event of setting with almond or of request for compensation by a court, Fernandes will almost never have recourse to the classification of its guitars. Only the first models and those manufactured with the factory at the end of Tokai 70 will comprise a serial number.
