Fernand Pouillon

The Architect and Town planner French Fernand Pouillon , born the May 14th 1912 with Cancon (Lot-et-Garonne) and died in the castle of Belcastel (Aveyron) the July 24th 1986, was one of the large builders of the years of rebuilding after the Second world war in France. Biography

Fernand Pouillon passes his youth to Marseilles where he attends the School of the Art schools before continuing of 1932 to 1934 of the studies of architecture in Paris. He builds its first building at twenty-four years in 1936 in Aix-en-Provence.

In 1947, it carries out the Management of sanitary control at the borders, located between Notre-Dame of the Major and Strong Midsummer's Day, who accommodates the immigrants, the majority Algerian unloading in Marseilles and in particular those employed with the rebuilding of the city. Fernand Pouillon obtains in 1948 the realization of the reconstruction project of the buildings of the Old man-Port of Marseilles.

In these years when the public effort relates initially to the rebuilding and the development of the apparatus of production of the country, Fernand Pouillon undertakes an ambitious bet in Aix-en-Provence: 200 residences to be built in 200 days for a budget of 200 franc million. Using the stone and economic plans but of quality, Pouillon wins its bet. In 1953, it renews this kind of performance by constructing the whole of buildings of Diar-el-Mahçoul to Algiers: : 1600 residences carried out in 365 days in a perfect respect of the local architectural style and especially of the concept of urban space.
