Fernand Gambiez

Fernand Gambiez , born with Lille on February 27th, 1903 and dead on March 29th, 1989, is a French soldier, commander of a battalion of Corsica shock in during the Second world war, general during the Guerre of Algeria, and military historian.

Military cadet, he is officer of legion to the Morocco, trainee with the University of war in 1935, captain ordering of company in May - June 1940. He is commander of a battalion of shock in 1943 and takes part in the combat of release of the Corsica .

Lieutenant-general of army in 1958, it is stopped by the rebellious generals at the time of the putsch of Algiers. He is commander-in-chief of the army corps of Oran in 1959, general then general inspector of the infantry in 1960, and commander-in-chief of the armed forces in Algérie in 1961.
