Fernand Forgues

Fernand Forgues is a player of Rugby to XV French, born the November 30th 1884 with Pau and deceased the April 12th 1973 with Bayonne.
Fernand Forgues played with the team of France, the Olympic Biarritz (club with the foundation of which it took part as of 1904, 20 years old), then the Bayonne Aviron (which it also contributed to structure, with his/her brothers Charles (born in 1888) and Jules (born in 1890)), the Section paloise. He evolved/moved at the station of right pillar, second line or third line wing (1,74 m for 75 kg), and took part in the two last Five Nations tournaments disputed before the First World War.
Captain of its team, it gained the first championship of France of the Bayonnes against SCUF in 1913.
He was 11 times international, and during its first tricolor selection, he took share with the first victory of the team of France at the time of a match in the tournament, vis-a-vis the Scot in 1911 with the Stade of Doves. He also took part in the first meeting vis-a-vis the Springboks, in 1913. After a sporting long career, it chaired the Bayonne Oar (1921 to 1925), the committee of Basque Coast of Rugby (1921 to 1945) and of Basque ball (1920 to 1953).
It was decorated with the legion of honor and the sporting Merit (Commander), and exerted important responsibilities within the FR.
He was an important mechanic of his state with Bayonne, and gold medal by the city.
An avenue of Pau (Bayonne direction) bears its name.

Finally the pillar and third line Marcel Forgues, 4th and the last of the brothers, born in 1896 - a Bayonne quay bears his name - were as for him vice-champion of France in 1922 and 1923, always with Bayonne.
