Ferengi

The Ferengis are, in the universe of fiction of Star Trek , a species Extraterrestre originating in the Planet Ferenginar.

Physiology

Ferengis are smaller than the human and are held slightly curved. Their skin is orange and they however have broad ears, which are a Erotogenic zone, of a more reduced size in the females, of the pointed teeth which attest of their origin Insectivore, a face doubles and a brain with four lobes which remains impermeable with the telepathic capacities of the Bétazoïde S and the Vulcains.

History

The beginning of the history of Ferengis goes back to approximately 10.000 years.

After the installation of their society based on the profit, they bought the technique of the distortion in order to widen their commercial interests in the Galaxie.

The first official contact with the Fédération took place into 2364 when that a vessel ferengi and the '' Enterprise NCC-1701-D '' was found trapped in orbit of an unexplored planet which was in fact an outpost of the Empire Tkon for a long time disappeared (see Star Trek: The new generation : the Last Outpost - The Last Oupost ).

Actually, Ferengis had already crossed the Federation into 2355, at the time of the Bataille of Maxia. A vessel ferengi had then attacked the Stargazer ordered by Jean-Luc Picard which had finally succeeded in destroying it. However, the Stargazer was damaged so much that the crew had been constrained to give up the ship (see Star Trek: The new generation: the Battle - The Battle ). also seen in the series enterprise Company NX-01

Culture

Ferengis have an ethics which is summarized with the research of the profit. It is besides their fortune which determines their social status.

The laws ferengies are highly sexists according to the human standards: they prohibit, for example, with the females to make profit or to wear clothing, which confine them almost in residence. There exists however an aspiration with the emancipation in the female population, population which the males primarily regard as goods.

Ferengis follow an ethics codified by a whole of 285 rules known as Règles of Acquisition ferengies. Each one is an advice which each good Ferengi must take to carry out an advantageous life.

These rules are supplemented by what Ferengis call the five stages of Acquisition: infatuation, justification, appropriation, obsession and resale.

Ferengis have at their head the Grand Nagus, from which the jurisdiction extends on all the trade from the Alliance Ferengie. sight also in L enterprise
