Ferdinand Kirschner

Ferdinand Kirschner (born the May 18th 1821 with Vienna, Austria - died the March 3rd 1896, in the same city) was a Architecte Austro-Hungarian of the 19th century.

Biography

Ferdinand Kirschner is building owner on behalf of the State since 1850 and becomes, in 1858, architect as a chief. Between 1865 and 1869, he works with the restoration of the district Hradčany in Prague, after which, he is indicated town planner as a chief ( burghauptmann ) of Vienna. In the capital of the Empire, he works especially with the restoration of the Hofburg and one owes him, inter alia, the decoration of the Redoutensale , (which is partially burnt in 1992).

Its chief of work is undoubtedly the rebuilding of the “Michael Wing” ( Michaelestrakten ) of Hofburg undertaken between 1889 and 1893, which takes as a starting point the original plan of Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach, 200 year old old man and who n´avait ever be carried out.

It draws, for the church of the capuchins of Vienna ( Kapuzinerkirche ) where is the Austrian crypt of the emperors and family members imperial, the tomb of the crown prince Rodolphe.
