Ferdinand Ier of Romania
Ferdinand Ier , born the August 24th (1865 in Sigmaringen, deceased the July 20th 1927 with Sinaia.
It was king de Roumanie of 1914 with 1927. Wire of Léopold (1835-1905), prince de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, and of Antonia of Portugal (1845-1913).
In 1893, he married Marie of Edinburgh (1875-1938), girl of Alfred of Saxony-Cobourg and Gotha, duke of Edinburgh, and the Maria-Alexandrovna large-duchess of Russia. They had six children:
- Charles II of Romania ( Carol ) (1893-1953),
- Elisabeth (1894-1956), married to Georges Ier of Greece (1890-1953), divorced in 1935,
- Marie (1900-1961), married in 1922 with the future Alexandre Ier of Yugoslavia ( Alexandre ) (1888-1934),
- Nicolas (1903-1978), married in 1931 with Jeanne Dumitrescu-Tohani (1909-1963), remarié in 1967 with Therese Figueira of Mello (1913-1997),
- Ileana of Romania (1909-1991), married in 1931 with the archduke Antoine from Habsbourg-Tuscany (1901-1987), divorced in 1954, remariée the same year with Etienne Issarescu (1906-…), divorced in 1965,
- Mircea (1913-1916).
King Ferdinand Ier obliged his son Carol II to give up his rights to the throne because of a marriage morganatic.
With its death, in 1927, it is thus its grandson, Michel I of Romania ( Mihai ), which succeeded to him.
Genealogy
Ferdinand Ier of Romania belongs to the line of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen resulting from the fourth branch, itself resulting from the first branch of the Maison of Hohenzollern. This line belongs to the branch souabe of the dynasty of Hohenzollern. Ferdinand Ier of Romania has for ascending Bouchard Ier, count de Zollern, it is the grandfather of Michel Ier of Romania.
