Fennoscandie
The Fennoscandie (sometimes Fenno-Scandinavia ) is an area of the north of the Europe. The word Scandinavia is sometimes used wrongly to indicate this unit, carrying a direction before very geographical and geological.
Fennoscandie corresponds to the Scandinavian Péninsule in a strict sense to which one adds the Finland, the north of the Denmark and the extreme North-West of the Russia (République of Karelia and Péninsule of Cola in particular).
On the geological level, these grounds correspond to wide of the Baltic Bouclier, a base formed in particular of Gneiss dating from the periods Archéen born and Protérozoïque S (3,1 billion years for the oldest rocks). This shield was exposed by the Glacier S following the last Glaciation S, especially in the north of Fennoscandie.
The word also differs from the concept of Scandinavian Pays in that which it never includes of the grounds far away from the Eurasian continent like the Iceland or the Greenland.
