Fendeille

Fendeille is a common French, located in the department of the Aude and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Fendeillais.

Geography

History

One can suppose the existence of one borough to the Roman epoch since during a ploughing, in 1969, one discovered a Bronze of bracket of Roman origin. A thorough excavation allowed the discovery of a Gallo-Roman Villa and various objects: fragments of Amphora S, a bronze of Constantin II, Currency and a great quantity of Tool S in Iron.

As of 1208, documents give a report on the Château of Fendeille. At that time, Pierre Roger of Mirepoix granted a Charte to his inhabitants. The Commune of Fendeille belonged to the Comté of Toulouse and fell shortly after to the capacity from Simon de Monfort. It is in 1210 that this one gave this place strengthened to the one of its lieutenants: the Knight of Fountains.
