Femi Kuti , born the June 16th 1962, is the son of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the creator of the Afrobeat, an explosive cocktail of Jazz, Funk and African Musique traditional.

Biography

It was born with London, but passed its childhood to Lagos to the Nigeria.

Fela Kuti denounced the Corruption, the Dictature and the influence of the Multinationale S in Africa through its songs. Like his/her father, Femi uses his music to diffuse this same message with its " group; Positive The Force" and to mobilize the Africans around the idea of a plain Africa.

After a precedent and extreme Fight to Win (2001), Africa Shrine appears as a vibrating testimony recorded with Lagos in March 2004 in the mythical club where Fémi Kuti elected residence each Sunday.

During nearly seventy minutes the electric environment of one evening was collected (quasi-ordinary) as only Shrine can get. Accompanied by a score by musicians and dancers, the master of ceremony is transformed then into true animal of scene, often offering to its public one duration services of almost five hours not-stop, going until exhaustion!

When he thus plays his music until the extreme, the artist seems to be animated by a benevolent and captivating energy. For this album, filmed by Raphaël Frydman and recorded by Sodi, Femi Kuti carefully selected some of the more beautiful pieces afro-happy of its repertory, acknowledging itself that such a project live is that which holds to him more in heart, reflecting thus perfectly its reality. Namely that of Shrine of Lagos, and especially that of the people Nigerian.

One discovers there pieces not having so to speak never left the cradle of Shrine and which after three years of labor are finally revealed. In addition to traditional 'the 97 and the resumption of Water No get Enemy of Cracked Kuti, of the titles like Dem sore , I wanna Be Free , 1,2,3,4 , Can' T buy me , Shotan ,… reveal a subtle balance between Révolte and Sensualité, two essential elements since founders of the generous music of his composer-songwriter.
