Felix Weingartner
Felix Weingartner, Edler von Münzberg (born the June 2nd 1863 with Zadar; died the May 7th 1942 with Winterthour) is a Austrian Leader and also a Compositeur neoromantic, a pianist and writer.
Biography
Weingartner studies with Graz, Leipzig then with Weimar with Franz Liszt. He is also the pupil of Carl Reinecke. Weingartner shares its work between the direction of orchestra and the artistic administration. In parallel, it is Compositeur and writer.Whereas Weingartner occupies already with Mannheim and Berlin several positions of direction, it is chosen by Gustav Mahler in 1908 to direct the Opéra of State of Vienna for one three years period. From 1908 to 1927, Weingartner directs the Philharmonic orchestra of Vienna. Of 1919 with 1924, he is director of the popular Opéra of Vienna. In 1927, Weingartner went to Switzerland. From 1935 to 1936, it again directed the Opéra of State of Vienna. Moreover, Weingartner works with Hamburg, Boston, Munich and Basle.
Although Weingartner abundantly composed (of the opera, of the Symphonie S, the Lied er, and the Chamber music), its works today are seldom played.
As a leader, it has influence of the generations of musicians by his technique as clear as elegant.

Anecdote
In the Inter-war period, a leader Viennese had asked very famous Felix Weingartner with which tempo was to be played the Fifth symphony of Beethoven. Its answer was the following one: “Dear colleague, I precisely play this symphony next Sunday. Thus, you come will know! ”.
