Mobilized in 1939 and of return to Paris in 1940, it becomes one of the major artists of the young French painting. Since 1943, it devotes its activity to the painting and the stage sets, of which in June 1951 those of the part Devil and the Good god of Jean-Paul Sartre put in scene by Louis Jouvet. It shares its time between Paris and Knokke Zoute. In 1951, it settles in Neuilly, continuing to expose to Paris and in Europe. In 1966, he is elected member of the Académie of the Art schools.
