Felix Buhot

Felix Hilaire Buhot , born with Valognes in 1847 and died in Paris in 1898, is a painter, aquafortist and illustrator, inter alia, of works of Barbey d' Aurevilly.

Buhot takes part fully of the revival of the Eau-forte in the sides, in particular of Felix Bracquemont or Charles Jacque.

The etchings of Buhot are famous for their margins known as “symphonic” (at the sides of the central subject, the artist realizes in the margins of the additions - one also speaks about “remarks” - sometimes very detailed).

Buhot signs its works by means of the monogram “ BFR ” which appears sometimes reversed. It signs sometimes also owl (“Spanish Buhot”).
