The Felix-Leclerc price of the song is a price of excellence decreed annually with a young person Auteur-compositeur-interprète Québécois within the framework of the Francofolies of Montreal and with a young French song writer and performer at the time of one evening in Paris.
Information on the price
The Felix-Leclerc price of the song was created in 1996 by the Fondation Felix-Leclerc. The price is financed by the following Fondation Felix-Leclerc and partners: the Francofolies of Montreal, the French and Quebec Office for youth, the Path of the Markets of Paris and the Association Quebec-France.
Criteria of eligibility at the price
- to have between 18 and 35 years;
- to take part in the programming of the spectacles interior or external of the Francofolies of Montreal (Quebec) or of the Path of the Markets of Paris (France);
- to be a song writer and performer (individual or in group);
- to have recorded at least a album or a Compact disk with its credit;
- to be Québécois or French;
- to have a repertory mainly French-speaking;
- to have a repertory made up from at least 60% of original parts written by the artist or the group.
Selection criteria of gaining
- Originality and quality of the texts and the music;
- Relevance of the creative step of the artist;
- Control of the scene and quality of interpretation;
- Potential of development of a national and international career;
- Contribution to the renewal of the French-speaking song.
The price
- a purse of 7500 Canadian dollars (or the equivalent in euros);
- carved a wood trophy representing the initials of the Foundation Felix-Leclerc ;
- the year following the handing-over of the price, the Québécois member elect will be invited to give its spectacle to the Halles of Paris and the French member elect will be invited to the Francofolies of Montreal .
