Feed batches

The Feed batches (Feedlots) are intensive parks of fattening of bovines in North America and in particular in Texas, Kansas and in Oklahoma.

Goal

They allow starting from reduced spaces a very high meat yield. One can also explain it by scientific breedings not using big spaces and gathering thousands of heads of cattle. This type of breeding exists close to the source of food: large cereal plains or large cereal ports.

System

He is opposed to the " ranching" it is however complementary. The old extensive breeding was reconverted towards the quality of reproducers. Certain ranches use several races intended to produce an ideal calf to provide the feed batches. Resulting genetically selected parents, it grows quickly, is solid on its legs and effectively transforms the food which is given to him.

Economic role

The feed batches are one of the factors which explain the agricultural development of the USA since this last allows an enormous production of meat of cattle, which allows a colossal sale and profits, consequently, enormous. It enters what is called: the agro-industrial die (or agri-business) American.
