Federica Montseny

Federica Montseny Mañé (Madrid, February 12th 1905 - Toulouse, January 14th 1994), is intellectual and militant a anarchistic Spanish, Minister for Health under IIe République Spanish, during the civil war started by the army.

November 4th, 1936, four anarchists become indeed Ministers for the national government: Frederica Montseny, Juan Garcia Oliver (Justice), Juan Peiré (Industry) and Juan Lépez Sànchez (Trade). A participation of the " cénétistes" (CNT) in the government of Largo Caballero which of course made debate within the anarchist-trade unionists.

Federica Montseny is thus the first woman minister of Western Europe. During its mandate, a decree is promulgated which legalizes the Avortement. Militant the anarchist is at the origin of places for children and elderly, of training centres for women, in particular to help the prostitutes to release itself from their medium.
