FCPN , Federation of the clubs To know and Protect Nature , is an association with nonlucrative goal which works to develop the culture naturalist and the clubs nature through the francophonie.

Natural little story of clubs CPN

1972 : The Brown owl leaves egg.

Pierre Déom, then teacher in the the Ardennes and member of the departmental company of protection of nature of the Ardennes, creates a newspaper intended to popularize the discovery of nature in the of the Ardennes schools. Smoothness of the drawings carried out with the feather, humor of the texts, scientific rigor of information are principal qualities of the Brown owl. At the same time, in the Ardennes, of the children organize themselves in clubs to know and protect nature (the clubs CPN). The Brown owl is their bulletin of connection.

Of 1973 to 1983: Spontaneous generation of small clubs and the take-off of the Brown owl. the clubs multiply quickly with high-school pupils or adults. the Brown owl acquires an international success and is devoted now only to the knowledge of nature. Clubs CPN then obtain their own bulletin of connection “the Gazette of the burrows” and of data sheets and teaching. In parallel, the house of the CPN is created with Boult-with-Wood, in the buildings of the center of initiation to nature. Training courses are organized and of the thousands of young people adhere to clubs CPN, thus sensitizing themselves with the environment, acquiring concrete knowledge and initiating themselves with community life.
In 1983, birth of the FCPN. the abstract network of the clubs CPN adopts a legal form: the FCPN (National federation of clubs CPN) is created, standard Association Loi of 1901. The purpose of it is to support, coordinate and promote the action of all the clubs. Member of the French federation of the companies of protection of nature (become Natural France today Environment), it respects the autonomy and the specificity of each club.
1985 : " Welcome with the clubs, Madam the minister! " For the first time, this year, the clubs are found all with Céré-the-Round (Indre-et-Loire). Great national associations like Mrs Bouchardeau, Minister for the Environment, are present, marking a decisive step in the recognition of clubs CPN. Madam Huguette Bouchardeau receives the 10.000ème chart of member CPN.

Clubs CPN

the clubs CPN were born in 1972. They are the children of " the Brown owl ".

A federation with the natural service of the clubs

the Federation of the clubs To know and Protect Nature brings its support and its assistance to all the clubs CPN of France and in the French-speaking world.
the FCPN supports the exchanges between clubs via a bulletin of connection " the Gazette of the Burrows " and an Internet site.
the FCPN encourages the direct exchanges between the clubs of France, and of the International meetings every 2 years are organized. The next one taking place in 2007 in Saint Bauzille de Putois: CPN 2007.
the FCPN diffuses free with the clubs adherent of many documents naturalists and teaching CPN, in particular the famous books of the Gazette of the Burrows on very varied topics: " To create a mare" , " To recognize the nids" , " Let us protect the bald people-souris" " Cook buissonnière" … These documents, carried out starting from the experiment of the clubs, very concrete and are at the same time adapted to all the curious ones about nature.
the FCPN proposes seminars of exchanges and training courses to the organizers of the clubs.
the FCPN answers the naturalists questions, teaching or legal of the clubs and their offer of the services of insurance.
the FCPN defends the natural principle of the clubs near the authorities and elected officials concerned with the problems of nature, youth and popular education.
the FCPN organizes public awareness campaigns and actions :

" 1000 ponds for the year 2000 " on the invaluable role of the ponds,
" the operation Agaric " or 25 actions for nature downtown,

of the relays in several countries (Spanish Federation of clubs CPN, ADETOP in Togo, the GRABE with Benign…),
an association of popular education approved by the Ministry for Youth and the Sports and by the Minister of education main road (in France),
of the partnerships with the League of Protection of the Birds (LPO), the National Natural history museum of Natural history (MNHN), the Foundation Nicolas Hulot, Nature and Youth (NAJU) in Germany…
an association member of France-Nature-Environment (FNE) and French Committee of Education to the Environment towards a Sustainable development (CFEEDD).
the FCPN is Co-organizer of the " Celebrates of Nature".
