The Fédération of soccer of Quebec (FSQ) is an association gathering the clubs of Soccer Quebec and organizing the provincial competitions. The FSQ is one thirteen provincial and territorial federations members of the Canadian Association of soccer. Its head office is with Montreal.

This federation was founded in 1911 and adopted its current name in 2000.

Many players

In 2006 one counted: 164183 players fired in Quebec. This number was of: 91260 in 1995. However, 90% of current manpower are composed players of less than 18 years.

Competitions

The principal competitions organized by the FSQ are:
  • the League of soccer elite of Quebec,

  • the Cut of Quebec Saputo AAA,
  • Cut of the provincial champions Saputo AA

History

The first organization managing the soccer in the beautiful province was created in 1911 under the name of Province off Quebec Football Association (PQFA). In the beginnings, the soccer is almost only the business of the english-speaking, in particular of the British immigrants, and lists it leaders of the Federation reflects this reality. After the Second world war, an surge of European immigrants, particularly the Italian, comes to give a new face to the Québécois soccer.

The Federation deals mainly with the soccer senior. About 1963, Jean-Guy Bédard founds the minor Association of soccer of Quebec which deals with young people, mainly in the area of Montreal. In 1971, the Federation francizes and takes the name of Fédération of soccer-football of Quebec . In 2000 it adopts its current name.
