Federal council (Austria)
The Federal council ( Bundesrat ) is the Upper House of the Austrian Parlement .
The sixty-four members of the Federal council are elected by the legislative powers of the Federal states for durations from four to six years. The composition of the Council changes after each election of a Landtag of one of the States.
The Federal council revises only the legislation passed by the National council and can delay it, but a veto is not envisaged by the law.
The Federal council and the National council ( Nationalrat ), joined together in common session, form a third parliamentary body, the federal Assemblée.
