Federal chancellery (Swiss)

The federal Chancellerie constitutes the staff of the Federal council, the central body which coordinates its work and prepares its meetings. It assists the president of the Confederation in the direction of the governmental businesses. It ensures the relations with the Parliament.

History

At that time, the chancellor (with the Secretary of State) one of the rare people is employed full-time as federal civil servant.

The role and the responsibilities for the Chancellery are re-examined during the adoption of the Constitution of 1848 where it loses of its importance to become only one administrative service of the Federal council and the Parliament.

A new reform, introduction into the Years 1960, transforms the Chancellery into a true service of staff of the Swiss government.
