Fedayin Saddam

Fedayin of Saddam (فدائييصدام) is a paramilitary organization Iraqi, honest with the Parti Baath and Saddam Hussein. The " term; Fedayin" refers to the name that carried the Palestinian combatants. Nearly 40.000 people are members of the movement, 15.000 according to the Pentagone.

Irregular forces

Fedayins of Saddam did not form part of the Iraqi regular army, but functioned rather like a paramilitary organization. Fedayins depended directly on the presidential palace, and not on the military state major as it is the case for the other Iraqi armed forces. It was not a force of elite, they were often badly formed, and did not have heavy weapons.

Fedayins made party of the organizations most faithful to the mode of Saddam Hussein, and they were reliable for the operations of intimidation and assassination against the political opponents. Certain rumors speak about extra-judicial massacre made by the organization, in particular a campaign anti Prostitution, in which more than two hundred women would have been carried out.

War in Iraq

Fedayins first of all tried to defend the Iraqi cities against the American forces, to compensate for their delay technological and military on the forces of the coalition, they were melted in the civil population.

The November 30th 2003, a hundred fedayins carrying their uniforms of origins led an ambush against a convoy of the American army to Samarra. Many died during the invasion, the others have join the Iraqi Guérilla.
