  • 1874 ( Tennis ): The English Walter Clopton Wingfield deposits a Brevet for the invention of a new sport: the Sphairistike. In fact, Wingfield is based on the Jeu of palm and the invention of the rubber which makes it possible to carry out balls being able to rebound on grass. The Sphairistike is the missing link between the Jeu of palm and the Tennis.

  • 1938 ( Boxing ): The American boxer Joe Louis preserves his championship of the world of the heavy trucks of boxing by beating Nathan Mann by K.O at the 3rd round with New York.
