In February:
- the chancellor of Austria Schuschnigg, convened by Hitler with Berchtesgaden, is constrained to entrust the ministry for the Interior to the Seyss-Inquart Nazi, then, by an ultimatum, to yield all the capacities to him.
- Schuschnigg counteracts by announcing a Plébiscite on the independence of the country. Seyss-Inquart then calls upon the troops of Reich and it is the Anschluss (fastening).
- Adolf Hitler takes the command of the Reichswehr.
- Taken again Teruel by the Pro-Franco .
