Fear
The fear is an emotion generally felt in presence or in the prospect for a danger or with the evocation or the thought of the danger or for something for feeling reluctant.
But the fear can also be caused for different reasons: claustrophobia, agoraphobia etc
From a neurological point of view, it is primarily an activation of the amygdala (together of cores on the level of the temporal lobes).
Any character, animal or imaginary fantasmatic creature who cause a feeling of fear in certain moments or certain places (the night, fog, forests, wells or edges of ponds, etc) are a fear .

It is seen that the fear has many facets, varied stakes and springs which can exploit the authors, the scenario writers, the policies or commercial and advertizing ones, consciously or not.
Fear of the unknown
The fear of the Inconnu is a phenomenon ethologic observed in many advanced animals and it is source of prudence. At the Man, it can be individual or collective. It is a fear of a hypothetical danger. It appears vis-a-vis unknown destinations or awaited circumstances. The fear of death, or the darkness, nothing to see can be forms about it, just as the fear of a noise or a new sound, fear of an animal/insect/anybody/new place, of a voyage, abroad, etc
-
an intense fear of the unknown, on behalf of a group or of an individual is source of insulation or of return to oneself or groups it. It can generate Violence, to even lead to the Suicide.
- a reasoned and moderated fear unknown allows a certain open-minded and can become factor of Créativité while contributing to the exhaltation of the Curiosité, research and the Découverte.
- the complete absence of fear of the unknown can be a pathological phenomenon and lead to the setting in danger by imprudence.
The fear seems natural and universal. It is its management and its intensity which can be or become problematic. The group, solidarity, the company, the training, the family, the tribe can contribute to the insurance of oneself and the sense of security, and thus move away the fear. The religion, the hierarchies, the systems of castes, unquestionable sects and certain political groups… are based on the fear of the unknown and death to consolidate their capacity or functions.
Fear and feeling of importance of oneself
When our spirit is encumbered too much by the thought which one has of oneself, one is more inclined to be afraid for oneself. For example, the paranoiac people are constantly worried by themselves, at the point to imagine scenarios of espionage of their own person on behalf of people whom they cross.
Fear and distresses
The exposure prolonged to something which frightens us involves a feeling of anguish. This feeling increases, and one with the impression which it will increase indefinitely. In fact, if one remains sufficiently a long time, the anguish reaches a maximum.
The behavioral therapies on the fear are based on that. One makes progressive, but rather long exposures so that the anguish goes down again. It is a kind of habituation. But if too abrupt exposures are made, or too strong, one obtains the opposite effect: the person is likely to be a little traumatisée and to be still more afraid.
Fear and alienation
The fear can also be the result of a Aliénation intellectual or social. The religions were criticized to have caused the fear of the Péché, the fear of living by oneself. This mentality of the fear was denounced by Nietzsche in the Crépuscule of the idols.
