Fayet (Aveyron)

Fayet is a common French, located in the department of the Aveyron and the area the Midday-Pyrenees. Its inhabitants is called Fayetois.
Geography
The village is located at the confluence of the Nuéjouls and the Dourdou, between the Rougier de Camarès and the Monts of Lacaune.

In his recension of the inhabited places of Aveyron of 1868, Jean-Louis Dardé counted three “villages” (more than 25 inhabitants), five “hamlets” (less than 25) and thirteen localities which are detached houses. The Hameau X current are five

History
The current commune of Fayet occupies the territory of old the Paroisse S of Fayet and of Castling (the latter called in the past the Castling of Rasele or Papalhonac Castling). Until the Revolution, those formed integral part of the community of Brusque. It is during first half of the 16th century that Tristan II of Clermont-Lodève or one of its sons made build the Château of Fayet, conceived like residence of approval occupying a more central place in the important family possessions. The monumental well of the castle, classified historic building, carries the date of 1564.
The Baronnie of Abrupt was set up in Marquisat the Abruptone in 1610. It was bought little before the Revolution by François de Nougarède who will carry the title of baron de Fayet.
