Fawkham Junction

The connection of Fawkham (in English: “ Fawkham Junction ”) () is a railway line of connection which connects the line at British high speed Chanel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) with the traditional network (Chatham Main line). In the beginning this connection was a railway line active until Gravesend but which was closed on August 3rd, 1953.
In September 2003, a first part of the line at high speed CTRL was opened with the public. However, in order to make it possible the oars Eurostar to join the Station of Waterloo, part of this abandoned line was then refitted in connection to allow the use of the first part of CTRL.
November 14th, 2007, line CTRL will be open entirely and the Eurostar oars will not have any more vocation to borrow this connection to reach London, it will remain however open for the access of the vehicles of maintenance and in the event of breakdown.
Connection is also used as transition between the electrification by conductor rail (750 V DC) and by overhead line (25 Kv 50 Hz) used on CTRL and between standard indication TVM 430 and traditional indication from the British rail network.
