Geography

The commune is made up of a plate of culture in the North-East, of four hills towards south-west with three steepsided valleys, of which that of the brook " Fauguernon" opposite the town hall.

Fortress of Fauguernon

Built during the first millenium, this strategic citadel was drawn up in front of the invasions Normans. High-place of resistance to the hinge of the plate of Lieuvin and the valley of the Drums, it was dismantled after a three month old seat by Geoffroy V of Anjou in 1147. Rebuilt then abused during the War One hundred Year old, it is on order of the duke of Montpensier that it was destroyed in 1590, at the time of drudgeries requisitioning the inhabitants of the close parishes, in order to prevent which it does not become the seat and the shelter of plunderers as in the past.

The church

The church of Fauguernon dedicated to Saint Regnobert dates from the 12th century at the 16th century.
