Fatty profits from a climate Mediterranean climate which gets exceptionally soft temperatures to him, as testifies its image to it to rest and vacation resort. The be S are famous to be hot, exceeding almost always the 20°C but seldom the 30°C, as in the remainder of the department. The Hiver S rather soft and dry, are regularly decorated Neige with the top of 500 m, particularly in the zone of the Wood of Marbrière, in the north of the city; on the other hand, the total snowing up of the city is not systematic and occurs approximately all both or three Hiver S, and this, over very a short period, generally in the neighborhoods of the month of February. In semi-season, Précipitation S appear regularly and in a way violent and abundant, which causes serious problems of flow of rain water in the streets of the old woman-city, with the infrastructures sometimes old and badly adapted to these weather phenomena, like in the rivers of the commune (like the Large Small valley or the Channel of the Siagne). In fact, in 1994, 1996 and 2002, the common one was seriously affected by the Inondation S: according to the Intercommunity association of the Siagne and Affluents (SISA), it comprises 40 hectares of easily flooded zones .
Transport and Access
By the road , the city is served by penetrating the Cannes - Grasse which connects the Autoroute A8 (by the exit) to the Roundabout of the 4 ways in the south of the city. Built with the beginning of the year 1990, this one will be prolonged soon until the Jean-Girard Stage under the impulse of the General advice of the Alpes-Maritimes which, since the law of the August 13rd 2004 on the Décentralisation, passed from the competence of the State, to the competence of the department. Other access roads, less important: since Nice by D2085, since Draguignan by D562, then D2562 and since Mandelieu-la-Napoule by D109, then D209. From Grenoble, one can reach by the Route Napoleon (N85), a historical road which follows the way that Napoleon i borrowed from his return of the Isle of Elba, at the beginning of the Hundred Days. After having unloaded on March 1st, 1815 with Gulf Juan, with a small army of 1.200 men, Napoleon took the direction of Fatty to join the Alps by the valley of the Durance. Moreover, the National association of the Elected officials of the Road Napoleon (ANERN) is chaired by the mayor of Fatty, Jean-Pierre Leleux.By the drunk , the city is accessible thanks to the lines from network TAM (Transport of the Alpes-Maritimes) exploited by the general advice: with the 500 since Nice, 610 since Cannes (by Pégomas) or 600 (by Mouans-Sartoux). Inside the city and in the grassois worldwide, of Mougins to Saint-Auban, public transport is ensured by the Sillages intercommunity association, chaired by François Reyne, 3rd assistant of the mayor of Fatty.
The rail-bound transports were formerly very numerous in the city: until the medium of the XX {{E}} century, one counted the line Grasse- Cannes connected the two cities by the Train under the aegis of the Compagnie of the railroad the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranean, the line of Train Draguignan - Fatty Nice which connected the city with the east and the west was when with it exploited by the Company of the Railroads of Provence (it was destroyed by the German bombardments during the Second world war), the Tramway connected Cannes and Grasse, and the Funiculaire connected the railway station with the downtown area. Today, the Cannes Line - Fatty, closed since 1944, was given in service by the SNCF, under the impulse of the local government agencies and the State within the framework of the Plan contract State-Area: it was reopened with the service traveller the March 26th 2005. A FOR THE THIRD TIME circulates there every hour and one records there a frequentation of almost: 2500 passengers per day.
In plane , Grasse is to 30 km of the Aéroport Nice Riviera, international airport and third airport French.
Displacements with bicycle , in a commune with the very chaotic relief will be appreciated by the senior climbing cyclists. Roads (200 km of roadway system in all) often very narrow and thus are equipped little with cycle tracks, even if such equipment multiplied on the main roads or the broadest ways in the last few years.

At this date, on: 17637 holders of main homes, 51,7% are Propriétaire S and 41,8% of the Locataire S. the average costs of the real estate in the city rose in 1999 with 2 843,62 €/m ². This price underwent since, until in 2004 of the extremely high rises (+ 10% per annum on average), before stabilizing in 2005. To bring an answer to the increasing demand of new residences, consequence of the demographic explosion, the town hall delivers an annual number of permits building correspondent with 250 residences (in 2005). The objective is to concentrate constructions in the historical center by the housing renovation old. With this intention, the Company of mixed economy (SEM) Fatty Development, created in 1975 and held to 80% by the town of Fatty finance and coordinates the rehabilitation of the old residences and the urban development. Moreover, the municipal council adopted the Local plan of town planning (RAINED) the June 28th 2007. This one returned in application in August 2007. It envisages an increase moderate in construction aiming at not exceeding an average of 200 inhabitants moreover per annum. In 2005, the city counted 14% of social housing, a rate which is in lower part of the requirements imposed by the Relative law on solidarity and the renewal urban (20%), but which appears however among the best of the department.

Taxation
The local tax system is " higher than that of the comparable communes of the région" according to the report/ratio of the Regional court of the accounts of Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure, realized in December 2005. The tax pressure, in increase until in 1996 was reduced, then slightly increased. Promise of the municipality elected in 1995, the tax pressure did not increase since its first budget, in 1996.The budget of investment was doubled since the beginning of the mandate of the municipality in 2001 and rose in 2004 to 14 d'€ Million, which corresponds to 290 € per capita, a figure higher than the average of the communes of the layer of Fatty (communes from 20.000 to 50.000 inhabitants) who rises with 265 €/hab. Cependant, this figure is also explained by the fact that with 48.200 inhabitants in 2005, Grasse is located in top of this layer.
Grasse political clouts
The Right grassoise, majority, was torn a long time by conflicts of parties and people. In 1977, it even lost the town hall at the time of triangular with the second turn including 2 lists of right-hand side against the list of plain left which finally carried it, profiting from this division. However, of 1971 with 1995, the Union for the French democracy preceded under the impulse of the mayor of then, Herve de Fontmichel, the other parties, and in particular the Rassemblement for the Republic and its leader, Claude Leroux. This one will manage to obtain the seat of general adviser of the Canton of Fatty-North in 1994 vis-a-vis the " candidate of the maire" , sign of the end of the Fontmichel era. In 1995, during the municipal election, the popularity of Herve de Fontmichel is with lowest and the local line explodes. The former first assistant (Movement for France) Jean-Pierre Leleux, in rupture with the outgoing team, asserts himself then against Claude Leroux (RPR), the plain left-wing candidate Claude Mayaffre, and the outgoing mayor Herve de Fontmichel (UDF). The leadership on the right becomes dubious then, the more so as Jean-Pierre Leleux loses back-to-back the legislative election of 1997 and its seat of general adviser of the Canton of Fatty-South in 1998. However, he arrives, at the time of the municipal election of 2001, to introduce a list supported by all the right parties, and in which one finds personalities of all tendencies among which one counts Bernadette Bétheuil-Ramin, president of honor of the federation MPF of the Alpes-Maritimes, who will become first assistant, or Danièle Tubiana, vice-president of UDF 06, future assistant of the social affairs. Although sullied by the candidature Various right-hand side with Paul Fourquet, former first assistant of Jean-Pierre Leleux entered in dissidence, the list of union of the right-hand side will gain the election. The creation of the UMP in 2002 to which the mayor resulting from liberal Démocratie adheres, as well as the electoral victories of this last, will clarify the leadership on the right: in 2002, the mayor is elected substitute for the deputy Michele Tabarot (they will be re-elected in 2007) and in 2004, it finds its station of general adviser, but in the Canton of Fatty-North. However, with the approach of the municipal elections, of new disputes appeared within the majority following the example first associated, Mrs. Bétheuil-Ramin, who denounced the management of finances of the city, or of Sylvie Teisseire-Faced, municipal adviser of the majority. The Left grassoise, minority, a long time was dominated by the French Communist party: in 1977, benefitting from the division of the right-hand side, it is even the local leader of the PCF, Georges Vassalo, which carries the town hall. Under all the municipalities of right-hand side for 30 years, the group of the plain left has been chaired by a Communist. However, since end of the year 90, one attended the emergence of two other left parties: the Socialist party and the Greens. With the cantonal elections of 1998, when the left gains the two cantons grassois profiting from triangular Left-Right-hand side-FN, it is the socialist Thierry Lautard which becomes general adviser of the Canton of Fatty-North, and the Vert Jean-Raymond Vinciguerra which becomes general adviser of the Canton of Fatty-South. The FN, passing very close to the 20% during the years 1990, had reached 24% at the time of the presidential election of 2002. Since the death of the former deputy Jean-Pierre Schenardi, the FN is represented at the time of the elections by Jean-Marc Degioanni. In 2007, the National front underwent a historical retreat: Jean-Marc Degioanni hardly obtained Grasse 5% at the time of the legislative election, against 17% with Jean-Pierre Schenardi in 2002

Economy
Perfumery: historical activity
With the Middle Ages, Grasse specializes in the tanning of the Cuir. Once tanned, leathers are often exported towards Genoa or Pisa with which Grasse had made a commercial alliance. Several centuries of this intense activity were the witnesses many technological advances of industries of tannery. Leathers of Fatty acquired a reputation of great quality. But leather feels bad, thing which does not like the nobility which wears gloves in this matter. It is Molinard, tanner with Grasse which with the idea to create gloves in Cuir scented. It offers a pair of it to Catherine de Médicis which is allured by the gift. Consequently, the product is spread at the Court and in all the High society and it made Fatty world reputation. We is at the 17th century, it is the great time of “Gantiers Parfumeurs”. But the taxation of the leather and the competition of Nice made decline the industry of leather with Grasse and leather the perfume succeeded. The rare scents of the country of Fatty (Lavender, Myrtle, Jasmine, pink, wild Fleur of orange tree, Mimosa) saved in Grasse the title of world capital of the perfume. The jasmine occupied there is still a few decades an important labor: the flowers were to be gathered with the hand at daybreak, at the moment when them perfume is developed the most, to be treated immediately by enfleurage cold.
Today still, perfumery remains the principal industrial pole of Fatty. A network of one sixty of company employ 3500 people there in the city and the surroundings. By counting induced employment it is nearly 10000 grassois which live perfumes. Almost half of the Professional tax of the city comes from this industrial pole which precedes the Tourisme and the services.
The activity of Grasse perfumery goes from the production of Raw material S natural (essential oils, concrete oils, absolute oils, Résinoïde S, and of molecular Distillation) to the manufacture of concentrate, also called the juice . It is this concentrate which diluted in, at least, 80% of alcohol makes it possible to obtain perfume. The food Arôme S, which develop since the years 1970, account for more half of the outlets of the production. The basin of Fatty with still a leading role in the world of perfumery, it represents about half of the French activity of perfumery and the flavors and around 7-8% of the world activity.
During years 1960 and 1970 of great international groups gradually repurchased the family local factories (Chiris, Givaudan-Roure and Lautier for example). The production was often delocalized. But industry grassoise completes a long change, there are still 30 years the majority of the companies were focused on the production of raw materials. However a perfume nowadays contains a crushing majority of Chemicals of synthesis. The companies thus adapted while turning towards the aromatic one of synthesis and in particular to the food flavorings. Vis-a-vis the Multinational S of chemistry, industries grassoises cannot compete, they benefit however from advantages of size such as the knowledge of the raw materials, the installation, the subcontractors, etc… Moreover, of famous brands as Chanel has their own plantations of pinks and Grasse jasmines.
