Fatick

Fatick is a city of the west of the Senegal, located between Me bour and Kaolack.

History

On the commune, several sites were classified by the Historic buildings.

It is about Mind Ngo Mindiss, a site of drinkings and offerings, located on the Sine; Ndiobaye, a place of traditional ceremonies; Jab Ndeb, a crowned tree located at Ndiaye-Ndiaye; three buildings sheltering the House Lutheran, the Prefecture and the Court.

Administration

It is the prefecture of the area of Fatick and the Département of Fatick.

Geography

The closest localities are Nerane, Pourham, Mbirk and Pourham Tok.

Population

At the time of the censuses of 1988 and 2002, the population amounted respectively to 18.416 and 23.149 inhabitants.

In 2007, according to the official estimates, Fatick would count 24.855 people.

Economy

Since the Arachide is in lose speed, the salt-water marshes are the local main resource.
