Fate/stay night

is a Video game, or more precisely a Visual Novell of TYPE-MOON, left in 2004, being held in the same universe as Tsukihime. An adaptation in animated series was born in Japan in 2006, by Studio Deen, preceded one month earlier by a version manga, currently in publication in the monthly magazine Shōnen Ace. Fate/stay night enjoys a great popularity, particularly in Japan, but a considerable base of fans exists in the world. To note finally that there exists one following the video game of the name of Fate/hollow ataraxia.

Fate/stay night is the first work " commercial" of TYPE-MOON, after one transitional period as creators of dōjin-range . When the play left the January 30th 2004, it beat records at the time of its first day of sale, while quickly becoming undoubtedly most popular of the plays Visual Novell ever left. The play takes seat in the same world as his/her big brother, Tsukihime , nevertheless, it explores other topics. A continuation (made mainly for the fans), Fate/hollow ataraxia , left the October 28th 2005. The two plays will be reserved for a public adults, those containing of the erotic scenes, but like many others visual novels like Kanon or Tsukihime of TYPE-MOON, they are more known for the rich history and " compréhensible" of its characters. The play Fate/stay night left on PS2 in December 2006 under the title Fate/stay night NUA , in a version purified to be appropriate for all the public ones.

The history comprises seven Masters clashing in the small town of Fuyuki. Equipped with magic capacities, and being able to count on the assistance of Being useful (as called Guards) as they called upon, the last of them will be able to adapt the Graal and to make exaucer expensive its wish.

The play is composed of three parallel stories: Fate , Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven' S Feel . At the beginning, only Fate is accessible. The 2 others are released by finishing the preceding scenario.

The animated series Fate/stay night , TYPE-MOON and Geneon and animated by Studio DEEN, was diffused January 6th 2006 with the June 16th 2006 and follows mainly the scenario Fate , while taking again some elements of both others.

The manga, written and drawn by Nishiwaki Datto is serialized since the December 26th 2005 in Shōnen Ace (number known as " of février") and published by Kadokawa Shoten since the May 24th 2006 (2 volume available in November 2006). It is mainly based on the scenario Unlimited Blade Works . It profits from a Character different design, more Moe with in particular of the characters obviously younger, than animates it or the video game.

Stories

FATE

It is the first accessible scenario, but also most popular. The history is directed towards Shirō and its being useful, Saber. The animated series is based on this scenario.

Unlimited Blade Works

To play this scenario after having freed it, it is necessary to prevent Saber from attacking Archer. The history concentrates on Rin, Shirō and Archer. The past of this last, of which one knew nothing in the first scenario, is developed considerably here. Shirō becomes extremely powerful and even manages to overcome several Being useful. The manga is based on this scenario.

Heaven' S Feel

To play this scenario after having freed it, it is necessary to choose all the options in favor of Sakura at the beginning of the play. Of the 3 stories, it is without any darkest doubt. One sees there quite different Shirō, which will disavow its ideals of justice. Two new characters are introduced, it is of True Assassin (which replace Assassin) and about its Master. Sakura, supporting character of the two preceding scenarios, holds a dominating place here.

Main characters

Emiya Shirou (衛宮士郎 Emiya Shirou):

Shirou is the main character of the history. It is a teenager honest, serious, very hard-working and always ready to help. Its principal hobbies is the repair of broken objects, but also the kitchen and the household. He has some latent capacities in sorcery, those being developed under the aegis of his adoptive father, Kiritsugu Emiya. At the beginning, he refuses to take part in the War of the Holy Grail and hopelessly tries to protect the others from the danger, included/understood there his characteristic Being useful, Saber

Tōsaka Rin (遠坂凛 Tōsaka Rin):

Raise model and idol of the school of Shirou, Rin Tōsaka keeps secret its talents of magician. During years, it piled up an impressive collection of books of sorcery, and its lessons are exempted in a strict and severe way. Zōken regards Shinji as a wizard of second category, and thinks that Sakura of more the potential one than his/her brother.

Matō Sakura, sister of Shinji (間桐桜 Matō Sakura):

A coed in first year of College, and the little sister of Shinji Matō. After the death of the father of Shirō, Sakura often returned visit to this last to help it in its daily spots. True Assassin (真アサシン Shin Asashin):

One Being useful particularly dangerous, and appearing in Fate/stay night, Fate/hollow ataraxia and Fate/Zero (with a more important role). Decrepit but flexible, True Assassin has various capacities enabling him to demolish adversaries easily much more powerful than him. The mention " Vrai" is used to distinguish it from Kojiro which with was called upon by another Being useful and which with usurped its place lasting the current war. All True Assassins share the same identity and appear in all the War of the Graal Saint. It are sadly famous for their macabre costumes, and the skeletal mask which hides their face.

Avenger (アヴェンジャー Avenjā):

The Being useful 8°, which was accidentally called upon during the 3° war, and becomes suddenly the new one Being used as Bazett. Its true name is Angra Mainyu, a spirit malefic of Zoroastrianisme. As a combatant, it seems to be weakest of all Being used them for all the levels. Its " Breaker of Epée" is weak and not reliable for two pennies, whereas its capacity to handle its twin scraping-knives, Tawrich and Zarich, as weapons of body with body is just correct. Even its Noble Phantasm does not represent a serious threat and its Master, Bazett, proved that it has more physical force and that it fights beat better than him.

Diffusé from January 6th, 2006 to June 16th, 2006, preceded on November 23rd, 2005 by a DVD " Curtain-raiser" (“curtain raiser”).

In September 2006, the magazine Newtype classified this animates 9th the best animates of all times. TV Asahi, a few days later, classified it 70e on a similar classification.

The DVD is assembled until the 5th place of the classification of the sales Oricon.
