A staples is part of semi-dismountable wire being used to fix thin elements:

between them, like sheets of paper: the ends of the staples pass through the sheets and fold up other with dimensions to hold the sheets together;
on a support, such as a Wall, a Partition or a display board;
one also uses fasten for the clothes industry of case S in paperboard or Bois;
in construction, of the elements of insulation, sealing or Pare-vapeur can be fixed using fasten.

Fasten are posed using a Agrafeuse. The elements thus fixed are known as fastened .

In Quebec, the staples is commonly called “stitches”. The stapler, as for it, is called “broaching machine”.
