Farîdkot

The town of Farîdkot

History of the principality

Kapura, a descendant of Jaisal, the founder, in 1156, principality of Jaisalmer creates in 1643 the principality of Kot Kapura which will separate in two states in 1763: Kot Kapura which will be conquered in 1807 by Sikhs of Lahore, and Farîdkot, which will remain directed by Jaisal.

The râja of Farîdkot will show their fidelity with the British during the Guerres sikhs (Pahar Singh) and during the Révolte of Cipayes (Wazir Singh). That was worth an extension of territory to them.

The principality integrated the state of the Penjab.
