Farès Al-Khoury

Farès Al-Khoury (rear RTL فارسالخوري) (born in 1877, died in 1962) is an Othoman politician then Syria N.

He is appointed Christian (Protestant confession) of Damas to the Othoman Parlement in 1908.

With the formation of the transitory Kingdom of Syria in 1920 with Faysal ibn Hussein as king proclaimed by the " Syrian congress " , he becomes Minister for Finance, then Minister for Teaching in 1926 (from April at July), appointed with the Syrian constituent Assembly in 1928, elected at the Syrian Parliament in 1932, re-elected in 1936 (and chair Parliament until in 1939), 1943 (and chair Parliament until in 1944).

He is Prime Minister of November 1944 at September 1945 (date on which he becomes again president of the Parliament until the coup d'etat of Hosni Zaïm in 1949) and 1947, Prime Minister for the October 25th 1954 with the February 13rd 1955, when its government, hostile with the union with the Egypt (United Arab Republic), is reversed by the Parliament.

He is the large father of the author and Syrian novelist Colette Khoury.
