Fantask

Fantask , newspaper of cartoons being included in the category of the “small sizes” published February to August 1969 by the editions Lug. The cover of the n° 7 of the 8/15/69 is the first work Super-héros of Jean Frisano which was going to illustrate hundreds of covers for the Lyons editor. The publication stopped at the end of seven numbers due to Censure formulated in these terms:

“ This publication is extremely harmful because of its terrifying science fiction, of its combat of monsters traumatisants, its accounts to the climate distressing and together with drawings with the violent colors. And the whole of these nightmarish visions is harmful with the youthful sensitivity. ” (Opinion of the commission of Censure on the Publications intended for youth).

It thus seems that the critics of the time were shocked, not only by one excessive violence of the action, but, thing more surprising, by the character all colors of this newspaper. However, it acted, of course, of the one of its principal qualities. This is very regrettable because, for the first time in France, the reader could discover of the unknown supermen such as the Four Fantastic, Spider-Man or the Money Surfer who had been published regularly for several years with thePlain ones. Extremely fortunately they will reappear very quickly, in spite of this prohibition, as of the following year in Strange and Marvel . However, by prudence, the first deliveries will be only “small sizes” deprived of the least “violent” color.

In February 2001, Semic tried to start again the title in the shape of a two-monthly booklet in which, under the crook of Jean-Marc Lofficier, series of Italian origin appeared: Nathan Never (Bonelli) and a few old ressuscitées series of the years 1970: Wampus, Homicron, the temporal Brigade etc But the public is not with go and the experiment only stops in January 2002 at the end of five numbers. The characters of the Lug universe will continue their existences within the pockets of the editor until December 2003 and their final adoption.
