It was the subject of several film adaptations and televisual.
It is also at the origin of the creation of the films " The panther rose" where David Niven plays the part of a robber of jewels being made call " The Phantom" and Peter Sellers parodies the Juve inspector with her role of Clouseau inspector.
Characters
- Fantômas : also called the " genius of the crime" , Fantômas says the " Master of all and tous". It is the largest criminal of all times, who does not hesitate to torture and kill to arrive at his ends. Its only weak point is his/her daughter, Helene. It also has a very great intelligence.

Juve : inspector of the safety of Paris, he is the keen enemy of Fantômas. Its life is dedicated to the destruction of the monster, and it is not afraid of nothing to destroy it.

Jerome Fandor : journalist with the newspaper " Capitale" , he is the devoted friend of Juve. He is at the same time under his protection, and Juve is its " father spirituel" , because it is him which baptized it thus… It fights with Juve against Fantômas. Fandor is also promised in marriage of Helene.

Helene : it is the girl of Fantômas. She does not know if she must love or hate her father. Very courageous, very intelligent and very beautiful, it is promised in marriage of Fandor, and fights at its sides against Fantômas.

Bouzille : chemineau, it hears all and is everywhere. He is often outlaw because he flies to survive. In spite of its inclinations for " the tire" , it often helps Juve and Fandor to track Fantômas, but it can help the enemies at the same time. It is a character sympathetic nerve.

the Verger : it is to some extent the right-hand man of Fantômas, a shady ready to kill without bad conscience, it represents worst henchmen of Fantômas.

Professor X : Scientist, it carries contribution to Fantômas in his diabolic plans.

Lady Maud Beltham : married very young person with Lord Beltham, whose Fantomas was the aide-de-camp during the war of Boers under the name of Gurn, it quickly became the mistress of this last.

Books of Marcel Allain
Marcel Allain only began again, after the death of his/her companion, the writing of Fantômas .This series was published in 34 French weekly magazines of 16 pages by the Parisian Company of Edition between April and September 1926, then of books by Arthème Fayard, except, seems the last.
It should be noted that all the titles published by Fayard comprise the name Fantomas. The titles were thus modified compared to those of origin.

Influences
Fantômas especially influenced the current Surréalisme- Paperinik, a Super-héros alter-ego of Donald Duck created by Guido Martina and Giovan Battista Carpi in 1969, is partially based on Fantômas. Its Fantômias predecessor, also called Fantômiald, was also named Fantômas.
- In 1999, Mike Patton names her rock group Fantômas according to the character of fiction.
- the character Marvel Comics named Fantômex, first appearance in August 2002, east creates by Grant Morrison and Igor Kordey for the comics New X-Men.
- Yves Klein was inspired some in one by its major works by its blue period and in particular in the portrait relief by Arman in 1962.
