Fanny Heldy , from its true name Marguerite, Virginia, Emma, Deceuninck Clementine, was born with Ath the February 29th 1888 and died the December 13rd 1973 with Neuilly-sur-Seine. It was large a Cantatrice (Soprano) Belgian.

Allowed unanimously with the Academy of Liege in 1908, it obtains its first price of song in July 1910. At the end of October of the same year, she sings with Théâtre of the Currency to Brussels, in Ivan the Terrible , of Gunzbourg-Jehin.

As of on December 1st, it held the head of poster in creation in Brussels of Quo Vadis of Nouguès. It remains three years in this Théàtre: Eurydice, Micaëla, Déjanire, Elsa, Traviata (fifteen times during the only season 1913-1914). It takes part in several creations: Song of the Bell , Vincent d' Indy, Roma , of Jules Massenet,… She also sings in France, in Biarritz, where its Violetta dazzles Edmond Rostand.

The German invasion of 1914 makes it flee in England, then in France where it meets her engaged couple, the industrialist Marcel Boussac.

She makes her beginnings with the Op3era Comique on February 12th, 1917, always in Traviata. Then the Barber of Seville , Louise , Mrs Butterfly , Manon , Pelléas and Mélisande , Tosca , Bohemian the (Mimi), the Tales of Hoffmann (in the 3 feminine roles), the Spanish Hour .

It continues its career with the Opéra Garnier since 1920, where it will shine at the sides of other stars of the French opera such as Georges Thill or Marcel Journet during nearly twenty years: Romeo and Juliette (1920), Straw mattress (1920), Faust (1921), Lohengrin (1922), Thai Hamlet and (1925), Manon (1926), Mrs Butterfly (1928), the Barber of Seville (1933).

She on several occasions interprets also Mélisande ( Pelléas and Mélisande ) with La Scala of Milan under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. She sings in London, in Brazil, in Argentina, in Poland, in Russia, in Spain. She was particularly aappréciée in Nice, Vichy, Monte Carlo.

She closes her career by creating the Eaglet of Ibert and Honegger, based on the part of Edmond Rostand, with the Opéra of Monte Carlo in 1937. She Marie to have been caught shortly after her retirement, in 1938, and dies in 1973.

The voice of Fanny Heldy, which it could keep all its career, was brilliant. Its extent went from the low register to against-D. It shone by the quality of its articulation (a characteristic which it divides with many Belgian singers!).
